Menopause is a natural occurrence in women of a certain age. The problem is that the symptoms of menopause are a bit scary if women are not ready for the various body changes and other symptoms that begin during this change of life. One thing for all women to realize is that not every symptom and sign is a part of every woman’s life. Some women may or may not have the various symptoms. One woman may experience several while another may only experience one or two. All bodies are different and every woman will experience different signs of menopause as well as different levels of intensity. Most women begin to notice what is known as perimenopause between the ages of 45 and 55 with the final menstrual period at age 51.

The most common signs of menopause include: hot flashes, mood swings, irritability, trouble sleeping, irregular menstrual cycle, lighter to heavier periods, loss of sexual drive, vagina dryness, exhaustion, irregular heartbeat, anxiety, trouble concentrating, alarming memory lapses, incontinence, tender breasts, itchy skin, sore joints, sore muscles, headache, indigestion, nausea, gas pain, mental confusion, depression, bloating, hair loss, new allergies, depression, increase in facial hair, changes in body aroma, bad taste in the mouth, ringing in the ears, and gum problems.

Remember, most signs of menopause are nothing to worry about at all. Your physician will be able to provide you with the list of all of the signs of menopause that you might experience and what signs you may need to worry about or take medications to receive relief such as the night sweats or depression. The most important thing to remember is that the signs of menopause do not last forever and normally do not last for long periods of time. The best thing you can do to transition through menopause easier is to reduce your stress, exercise and try to get enough sleep.
