Though moisturizers are not yet scientifically proven to be effective, anecdotal evidence supports the idea that moisturizers containing vitamins A and E may help prevent the incursion of stretch marks. Regulating weight and overall body volume is one effective way of ensuring you don’t get stretch marks. Massaging the skin on a regular basis also helps improve the capillary circulation, promoting new skin cell regeneration.

AHA or Alpha Hydroxy Acid Treatment

AHA is probably today’s most popular treatment in ridding off stretch marks. AHA can be found in almost every major skin care brands and ointments from cosmetic stores. Alpha Hydroxy is a very potent exfoliating compound. When this compound is applied to the skin, they immediately break down the proteins that keep dead skin cells in tact, and essentially reducing down dead skin. This also promotes younger and newer skin cells to regenerate.

Retinoids

Retinoids are the second most recommended stretch mark treatment next to AHA. They are usually offered in creams and moisturizing forms. Retinoids function by helping the skin regulate skin cell growth. It accelerates the skin growth process ridding of stretch marks faster.

Salicylic Acids

Salicylic Acid is rarely recommended as treatment but is equally effective in reducing down stretch marks. This compound is often found in acne treatments, but there are few skin care brands that include Salicylic Acid mildly to help prevent and reduce the appearance of scars, blemishes, and acnes.
